Hydro Ottawa officials report that more of the utility's hydro poles were damaged during last week's windstorm in the area than during the 1998 ice storm.

The utility said its crews responded to hundreds of calls of power outages.

High-voltage wires were damaged and on the ground in 68 locations across the city.

In spite of that, Hydro said it managed to restore power to 43,000 customers within 24 hours.

Power was restored to all customers by the end of the weekend.

Anyone still without power should call Hydro Ottawa at 613-738-0188.
