Police identify construction worker killed in Highway 17 crash

The 42-year-old construction worker struck and killed on Highway 17 Monday has been identified as William Danniel Milton, of Northbrook, Ont.

Milton and another worker were on the south shoulder of the highway in a construction zone near a hydraulic drill and a vehicle with a trailer when a black 2010 Jeep Patriot hit them.

Police say the vehicle was travelling west when it crossed the median and struck both construction vehicles and the two workers.

Milton was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other worker suffered serious injuries and was transported by paramedics to hospital. The two people in the SUV were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

OPP and the Ministry of Labour are both investigating the collision.
