Highway 17 construction worker dead after crash near Arnprior
Ministry of Labour investigating
One construction worker is dead and another was flown to hospital in critical condition after a crash in a construction zone on Highway 17 just west of Ottawa on Monday.
A black mid-size SUV was travelling west on the highway near the Campbell Drive exit when it struck two parked construction vehicles facing east, according to OPP Const. Janice Sawbridge.
The two people in the SUV were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Renfrew County paramedic Chief Mike Nolan.
Ontario's Ministry of Labour is investigating. Two inspectors have been sent to the scene, a ministry spokesperson said.
The highway was closed between Campbell Drive and Calabogie Road, but reopened at about 7:30 p.m.
