Both people who complained about feeling unwell after a call for medical assistance at a Gatineau home last week have died, police say.

Paramedics were called to a home on Notre-Dame Street, near Campeau and Doré streets, for medical assistance shortly before 9 p.m. on July 27, after a couple complained they were not feeling well.

Gatineau police said the 55-year-old woman died but the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police now say the 69-year-old man died two days later, on Friday, July 29.

Police said after the woman's death they were unsure of the cause, saying she could have been the victim of food or alcohol poisoning.

An autopsy of the woman has since been conducted, police said, and the results are expected in the coming days.
