The Ottawa police homicide unit is investigating after a man was stabbed to death Saturday morning in the city's Vanier neighbourhood.

Officers and paramedics were called to the scene near Hannah Street and Montreal Road at around 6:20 a.m., according to a tweet from the Ottawa Police Service.

Paramedics said one man was taken to hospital in critical condition, and police said he later died in the hospital.

He was identified Saturday afternoon as 40-year-old Jayco Partridge.

Police are now asking for the public's help finding Devon Wynne, 28, who is wanted for second-degree murder.

Montreal Road was closed between Hannah Street and the Vanier Parkway, but it reopened late Saturday afternoon. As of 6 p.m., Hannah Street itself was still blocked off.

Police have said there's no concern for public safety.
