Truck driver killed in Highway 417 construction zone crash

The driver of a tractor trailer was killed on Highway 417 east of Ottawa Wednesday morning when the truck crashed into a parked truck in a construction zone.

Victim identified as Claude Boudreau, 59, of Laval, Que.

The driver of a tractor trailer was killed on Highway 417 east of Ottawa Wednesday morning when the truck crashed into a parked truck in a construction zone.

It happened between County Road 34 and County Road 23 at about 7:45 a.m., according to Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP.

The victim has been identified as Claude Boudreau, 59, of Laval, Que.

A man inside the parked truck was not injured, police said.

The collision remains under investigation.

Ontario's Ministry of Transportation (MTO) said in an email the collision happened about 200 metres before the two-lane highway reduced to a single lane. The speed limit there was reduced to 80 km/h less than two weeks ago, the MTO said.
