Eastern Ontario teacher now charged with 42 sexual offences
Crimes involved young people between 12 and 17, police said
An eastern Ontario school teacher faces six new charges in connection with sexual offences that allegedly occurred in Tweed, Ont. — involving children between 12 and 17 years old — in addition to 36 other charges, according to police.
Jaclyn McLaren, 36, of Stirling, Ont., was arrested on Feb. 15 — one day after the Ontario Provincial Police launched their investigation, police said.
She was originally charged with:
- four counts of sexual assault on a person under 16.
- four counts of sexual interference with a person under 16.
- four counts of invitation to sexual touching under 16.
- eight counts of sexual exploitation.
- six counts of luring a person under 16.
- seven counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.
- three counts of making child pornography.
On Thursday, McLaren was also charged with:
- four counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 18.
- two counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.
4 new victims
These latest charges were laid after four new victims came forward, police said in a news release.
McLaren — also known as Jaclyn Jones — was a teacher with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.
She had been released from custody with conditions. She was scheduled to make her next court appearance on Thursday in Belleville, Ont., police said.
The crimes allegedly occurred between 2013 and 2016, said police.
