Drive-by shooting led to 4-vehicle crash, say Ottawa police
Buick hit by two bullets, then involved in crash a few blocks away
Ottawa police are looking for witnesses to a drive-by shooting after shots fired in the city’s south end led to a four-vehicle crash.
Police said they got several calls about gunshots from an area near Heron Road and Jefferson Street just before 8 p.m. Thursday.
Later Friday, police said an older-model Buick was hit by two bullets on its passenger side at that location, before the vehicle fled the scene.
They said the Buick was then involved in a crash at the corner of Walkley and Conroy roads that also involved a van and two other cars, at which point the passenger left the scene and the driver ran into a nearby gas station.
That driver, a 27-year-old man, isn't co-operating with police and won't identify the passenger.
Ottawa paramedics said they didn’t treat anybody at the scene of either incident.
The Ottawa police’s guns and gangs unit is investigating these incidents.
Anyone with information is asked to call them at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477.
