Cyclist struck by car, seriously injured on Sunday

A cyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car early Sunday evening and Ottawa police are investigating.

A cyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car early Sunday evening.

It happened on Montreal Road near Highway 174 at about 4:30 p.m.

The 37-year-old cyclist was treated by paramedics for an open scalp head injury, neck injuries, soft tissue trauma and blood loss, according to a media release issued Sunday.

He was taken to The Ottawa Hospital's Civic campus trauma unit in serious but stable condition.

Ottawa police are investigating.
