Welcome back Vassy Kapelos, CBC Ottawa's host of Power & Politics.

Returning from maternity leave, Vassy Kapelos is back to hosting Power & Politics on Feb. 22. Check out the Q&A with Vassy below to learn more about her:

What do you like most about your job?

The people I work with. It's such a great team and a busy (in a fun way) environment.

 What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?

Travel solo.

 What is one thing you learned during the pandemic?

My step kids are amazing. I mean, I already knew it – but they have handled the in and out of school thing so incredibly well – I'm in awe of them.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

My husband would wake up with the baby at 7am, while I sleep for hours instead of waking up 40 times. I would have a huge breakfast full of food that is bad for me – continue eating good food all day and spend it with my family.

What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?

Getting through hyperemesis when I was pregnant and continuing to work while I was really sick. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

Why should people watch 'Power & Politics'?

Because the decisions politicians make affect your life – and if you want to know why they're making those decisions, or in what way it will affect your life, or just some plain old accountability – well, that's what we're all about.

Fun fact about you?

If I weren't a journalist, I'd be a baker :)
