A physically distant Mother's Day

The Ottawa Morning team put the call out for messages to moms who won't be able to see their kids this Mother's Day. We received many thoughtful, heartwarming messages from kids and grandkids.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful messages to mom with CBC Ottawa

The Ottawa Morning  team asked for your messages to moms who won't be able to see their kids on Mother's Day due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We received many thoughtful submissions and heard messages to moms living in other cities, a mom in a long-term care home and grandmothers who can't come over to hold their grandson.

If you missed these messages on Ottawa Morningthis week, you can still listen to some of them below and on the @cbcottawa community Instagram account, where we've been sharing these special, although sometimes sombre, notes to mom.

Carolyn Eaves wrote this message to her mom, Kay, who lives in LaSalle, Ont.

Megan Renaud also wrote to us about being separated from her mom in a different city.

This is the first time the two won't be together for Mother's Day.

Susan Mills is also feeling far away from her mom, even though they both live in Ottawa. Mills wrote this touching message to her mom, Barbara, who lives in a long-term care home.

Jan Soetermans not only has a message but a new puppy waiting for her mom, and Peter Shaw, a new dad, shared a special message from his now three-month-old son, John Rowan Shaw, to his grandmothers.

To all mothers either at home with their families or marking the occasion at a distance, Happy Mother's Day.
