A 28-year-old Carleton Place man is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 7 near the small community, OPP say.

It happened just before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday near Ramsay Concession Road 1, between the communities of Carleton Place and Innisville.

A Hyundai heading west collided with another Hyundai heading east, OPP said in a news release.

The man driving the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Nader Kawash.

The Perth man driving the eastbound vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in an Ornge air ambulance.

The highway was closed in both directions between Tatlock and Ferguson Falls roads, but has since reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.

Tuesday's crash on Highway 7 happened just a few kilometres from where another man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in late December.

During that investigation, a driver collided with a vehicle from Ontario's Ministry of Transportation, sending a worker to hospital with serious injuries.
