Arson is believed to be the cause of a fire that damaged two south Ottawa condominiums currently under construction.

Firefighters responded to the units at 134B and 136B Lindenshade Drive, which are near Strandherd Drive in the community of Barrhaven, at about 11:25 p.m.

When they arrived crews found a fire at the front entrance and later reported fires in the basement. They then called for backup.

Nobody was inside of either house and there are no reported injuries.

Damage is estimated at about $200,000. The cause is still under investigation.
