One person is dead and a section of Highway 17 near Pembroke has been closed in both directions after part of a transport truck carrying logs became disconnected on Monday morning, scattering logs across the highway.
It happened on the section of highway between B Line Road and Highway 41 at about 7:15 a.m. ET, Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson Beth Ethier said by phone from the scene.
The truck had been heading east along the highway. Three other vehicles heading west were involved in the crash.
A person driving a car was pronounced dead, Ethier said, adding that the exact sequence of events is still being investigated.
The deceased person's family is still being notified, she said.
