Woman with steak knives jolted by police
Police used a stun gun on a woman who was wielding steak knives and demanding free food at a pizzeria last night.
Halifax Regional Police said a woman with two knives tried to stop traffic at the intersection of Jackson and Victoria roads in Dartmouth.
Ten minutes later, police were called to a pizza store on nearby Albro Lake Road where an armed woman demanded food.
Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs said the woman had a knife in each hand and approached the officers. He said they shocked her with a stun gun when she ignored their commands.
Police said no one was hurt, but the woman was taken to Dartmouth General Hospital for a medical assessment.
