Police are asking for help to find a suspect after a sexual assault in Central Halifax early Wednesday morning.

A 21-year-old woman was walking on Agricola Street between West and Cunard streets around 2 a.m. Wednesday when she neared a lone man standing on the sidewalk, Sgt. Reid McCoombs said in a news release.

The man called out to her and asked if she wanted him to call her a taxi. As she passed him, he grabbed her, pushed her up against the wall of a building and sexually assaulted her, McCoombs said.

The woman was able to break free from the man and ran away. She made her way home then went to the QEII Hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 24 years old, five feet 10 inches tall, with medium-length light-brown hair and some scruff on his face, wearing jeans and a black jacket.
