Woman drowns at Antigonish County beach

RCMP say a 60-year-old woman has died after a possible drowning at a beach in Antigonish County.

RCMP say a 60-year-old woman has died after a possible drowning at a beach in Antigonish County.

Officers were called to Monks Head Beach to help paramedics and fire officials deal with a possible drowning on Thursday.

Antigonish County RCMP said the woman was transported to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is pending.

The woman's name has not been released.
