RCMP have released the names of two Halifax County men who died in separate incidents over the Labour Day weekend.

Shane Sutherland, 51, was swimming at a cottage at Hirtle Lake in Lunenburg County Saturday afternoon when he and another man ran into trouble while snorkeling.

An autopsy has confirmed Sutherland drowned. Exhaustion is believed to have played a role in the drowning.

RCMP have identified a 31-year-old Tantallon man as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash on Highway 103 Sunday morning.

Marc Fletcher was the lone occupant of the vehicle that ended up hitting the median between exits 3 and 4 outbound.

The investigation into the cause of that crash is still ongoing, RCMP said. The accident closed the highway for several hours.
