Police are diverting traffic in central Halifax after a gush of water ran down a section of Agricola Street on Saturday morning.

A water main break erupted at the intersection of Agricola Street and West Street around 11 a.m., according to Halifax Water.

The asphalt has lifted, causing water to pour into the street, reported the CBC's David Thurton.

Crews have had to shut off water to homes along Agricola, between West and Charles streets.
