University of King's College president resigns
The University of King's College Board of Governors announced in a press release Wednesday evening that it has accepted the resignation of Dr. Anne Leavitt.
The release says Leavitt submitted her resignation on June 21.
The board's chair, Dr. John Hamm, made a statement in the release.
"We are sorry to announce Dr Leavitt’s resignation, but respect her decision. The board has taken immediate steps to select and appoint an interim president," Hamm wrote.
Professor Kim Kierans is the vice president at King’s.
According to the university's website, Kierans would act for Leavitt in her absence or in the event of her resignation.Leavitt was the 23rd president and vice chancellor of the university.
She took office on August 1, 2011.
