Two dead following Lake Echo shooting

A man and a woman died Saturday night after a shooting that police sources are calling a murder–suicide on Ponderosa Drive in Lake Echo.

The RCMP received the call for help around 8:16 p.m.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a 47-year-old woman who had been shot. The woman died from her injuries.

The police sent an Emergency Response Team into the home around 12:30 a.m. That's where they found the body of a 50-year-old man.

Police said there were two other people in the house at the time of the shooting, but they were unharmed.

A portion of Ponderosa Drive was closed for hours as the police conducted their investigation. They said the shooting was not a random act.

Both victims lived in the house.
