Skaters on the Halifax Common are being warned to watch out for thieves after several pairs of shoes were stolen on Sunday.

Halifax Regional Police said six pairs of sneakers were stolen from the oval Sunday evening.

One of the victims was 13-year-old Jack Murray.

"I guess it's not really a huge deal, I can get new shoes, but they're a lot of money and plus it was just sort of unfortunate to have to walk in my socks back to the car," he said.

Murray said he lost a $70 pair of Adidas Neos.

"If you're worried that your shoes might be taken or you are very attached to your shoes, put them in a bag and skate with them," advised Const. Pierre Bourdages.
