A 19-year-old male is in a Halifax hospital after being thrown out of the all-terrain vehicle he was a passenger on while travelling in Guysborough County, according to RCMP.

A 19-year-old male is in a Halifax hospital after being thrown out of the all-terrain vehicle he was a passenger on while travelling in Guysborough County, according to RCMP.

It's believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash, RCMP say, which happened at about 1:30 a.m. AT Sunday on Highway 316 in Country Harbour.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.

The 28-year-old driver now faces multiple Criminal Code driving offences.

He is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on Sept. 19.
