Teen charged with murder of Dartmouth senior
A 15-year-old boy is charged with first-degree murder in the death of an elderly woman in Dartmouth last week.
Halifax Regional Police said the teen was arrested Sunday — two days after the woman was found dead in her home on Jackson Road.
Police were called to the house just before 2 p.m. Friday when someone noticed the back door was open.
Police ruled the death a homicide following an autopsy.
The 15-year-old from Dartmouth will also face robbery and breaking-and-entering charges when he appears in youth court on Monday.
Police said a man was arrested Monday morning and remains in custody.
The victim's name has not been released. Neighbours said she was a widow in her late 70s.
A neighbour told CBC News the last time she could recall seeing the woman was Tuesday or Wednesday.
