An 18-year-old man has been charged with unlawful confinement after police received a complaint from another man who said he had been kidnapped and assaulted.

RCMP said they received a complaint on Tuesday evening from a 17-year-old man who said two teenagers confined him to a room at the Seasons Motor Inn on Melrose Avenue in Halifax.

According to the victim, the assailants demanded he bring them cash from a bank machine. He said he was assaulted, threatened with a firearm and forced to drive the suspects to local pawn shops.

On Wednesday, RCMP executed an arrest warrant on Greenwood Avenue in Timberlea. An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with forcible confinement and kidnapping, assault with a weapon and several firearms charges.

The Mounties said they are still looking for a second suspect, a 17-year-old man. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
