Suspect in Halifax assault in custody
1 victim still in hospital
Halifax police say they have made an arrest in connection with an assault that injured two men last week, including one man who was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened downtown on Aug. 26 when an argument broke out between a man and woman.
Police say one of the victims was struck when he tried to intervene in the dispute.
When the second victim tried to step in to help, police say he was also struck and fell to the ground, striking his head.
He remains in hospital where he is recovering from his injuries. Police say he has spoken with investigators.
Police say a 22-year-old man from the suburb of Cole Harbour turned himself in to police Thursday.
He faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count of causing a disturbance by fighting.
Police say it's not believed either victim knew the two people who were arguing.
