Springhill woman found slain in home

Police in Springhill say a 37-year-old woman is dead and an 18-year-old man is in custody.

Police in Springhill say a 37-year-old woman is dead and an 18-year-old man, who lived in the same residence with the woman, is in custody.

Springhill Police officers were called to a home on Mechanic Street just before 3 a.m. Monday.

Nova Scotia RCMP said a woman was found dead inside the home, and that she had been killed.

Acting Chief Dean Ruddick, Springhill Police, acknowledged that the teenaged boy was in custody after he turned himself in. "He was placed under arrest without incident and he is still in police custody," he said.

Local residents had been told by police not to discuss the investigation.
