Snow storm closes mainland Nova Scotia schools

People in mainland Nova Scotia woke up to a heavy mix of snow, ice pellets and rain Wednesday morning.

The first day of spring arrived with a long list of school and event closures. Even Dalhousie University, known for keeping its doors open, remained closed in the morning.

Halifax's Stanfield International Airport was reporting delays and cancellations affecting about half of the arrivals and departures until noon.

Plows were out early trying to clear the streets but the overnight snowfall made for a slow commute for drivers.
