The Halifax Regional Municipality is looking for a company to build a permanent meeting area at the skating oval.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is looking for a company to build a permanent meeting area at the skating oval.

HRM has issued a tender for the second phase of the skating oval project on the Halifax Common.

The tender calls for washrooms and a place for skate rentals and skate sharpening. There are also landscaping elements, including concrete seating walls and planters for shrubs and ornamental trees.

Interested companies have two weeks to submit their proposals.

The Emera Oval, as it's officially called, opened on Dec. 23. HRM says approximately 130,000 skaters used the oval before it closed for the season on March 9.
