Seinfeld may perform in Sydney
Centre 200 in Sydney could welcome another big star this fall — comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
Centre manager Blair Brewer said he expects to know within days whether Seinfeld will perform in December.
"We've definitely been talking to the promoter who's handling that show, and we're pretty confident that this show is going to happen," Brewer said.
"They will be making the official announcement and we're hoping to have that within about a week."
Seinfeld's website lists 20 more performances in 2011 in places ranging from Red Deer, Alberta and Prince George B.C. to Las Vegas.
This comes hot of the heels of superstar Elton John who played a sold-out show in Sydney in mid-September. He also performed two shows in Summerside, P.E.I.
Brewer said the positive feedback on the pop star's show should help attract more big name performers to Cape Breton.
"It's nice to hear the positive stuff coming back from people for shows like that. Hopefully, it helps when that reaction is out there in the public, it'll help bring some other things," he said.
"I know people have been disappointed, there haven't been more name shows here over the years, and hopefully this is a start to something that will continue on somewhat of a regular basis."
