A second person has died following a three-vehicle crash in Pictou County, N.S., Friday night.

RCMP said Irene Johnson, 82, succumbed to her injuries Sunday. Johnson was a passenger in the van driven by Susan Glinz, 54, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the roads were icy at the time of the crash on Highway 104, near Barneys River Station.

One other passenger from the van remains in critical condition in a Halifax hospital. A male passenger in the van and the driver of an SUV involved in the crash had minor injuries, while the driver of a sedan was not hurt.

The collision happened at about 5:30 p.m. as a snow storm passed through the Maritimes. All three vehicles were heading west, police said.
