Search for Marty Leger, missing biker, continues in Waverley
Mountain biker originally from Moncton, now lives in Halifax
Ground search and rescue crews from across Nova Scotia are continuing the search for a missing 30-year-old man in the Waverley area today.
Halifax RCMP say Marty Leger never returned home after going out mountain biking around Spider Lake on Thursday afternoon.
Crews scanned the area on Friday, but Staff Sgt. Amy Matchett says access to the lake is tricky.
“There’s no direct road back into the lake, it’s just trails and they’re very rough. Mostly passable just by bikes and things like that. Hoping to get three helicopters back up in again today to do the the air search,” she said.
Matchett says some crews continued to search overnight but the rough terrain meant their efforts were scaled back considerably.
Leger’s vehicle was found parked at the end of Spider Lake Road near the trail head on Friday.
Police say he's originally from Moncton and now lives in Halifax.
