Search and rescue crews from as far away as Cumberland County planned to continue their search for a missing Halifax man overnight Friday.

Search and rescue crews from as far away as Cumberland County planned to continue their search for a missing Halifax man overnight Friday.

John Donald MacInnis, 73, was last seen at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at his home in Fairview, Halifax police say.

MacInnis is described as a white male, 5'3", 135 lbs., with grey hair, silver glasses and several days' growth of facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt, khaki denim pants and slip-on shoes.

A Department of Natural Resources helicopter was brought in to aid in the search late Friday afternoon.

Halifax police have been canvassing the man's neighbourhood.

There is no evidence to suggest that MacInnis has met with foul play, police said, but his family is concerned for his well being and is also worried he may have become disoriented and lost.

Police are asking that MacInnis, or anyone with information regarding his whereabouts, call Halifax Regional Police at 490-5016 or at their local police department.
