RCMP probe after gov't employee fired
The RCMP is investigating after Nova Scotia's Transportation Department forwarded the results of a forensic audit to police.
The department says the audit was launched in January after concerns were raised about an employee.
Department spokeswoman Sue McKeage says the employee was initially suspended with pay, but fired this week.
She won't identify the worker and declined to discuss the nature of the allegations against the employee.
The department asked police to look into the matter after the audit uncovered what McKeage says were "irregularities."
RCMP Corporal Andrew Joyce confirms the force is investigating, but won't discuss the probe.
