RCMP have released the name of a Nova Scotia woman who died in a three-vehicle crash Friday evening in Pictou County.

Susan Glinz, 54, of Brookfield, Colchester County, was driving a van that collided with a jeep-like vehicle and a sedan travelling along Highway 104 in Barney's River at about 5:30 p.m.

Two other occupants of the van were taken to Aberdeen Hospital in serious condition. Another van passenger and the sole occupant of the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries. The sedan driver was not injured.

Const. Shane Foster said road conditions were slippery due the storm passing through the Maritimes. He said the snow also complicated the rescue effort.

"It was quite a difficult scene, given the weather conditions," he said Saturday. "It was extremely poor weather conditions. It snowed for a good hour or two."

RCMP investigators remain at the scene; no charges have been laid.
