An 18-year-old man is in custody after allegedly trying to rob a pizza restaurant with mace in Lower Sackville Wednesday night, say police.

The Halifax regional police and RCMP were called to the Primo Pizza restaurant on Cobequid Road just after 11:20 p.m.

Ten police cars and a police dog were called, said Cpl. John Stoddart, causing some streets in Lower Sackville to close for the two-and-a-half hour chase.

Officers nabbed the suspect around 2 a.m. near Chandler Drive.

The suspect wore a mask and sprayed a mace like substance into the restaurant before fleeing on foot.

Police said the young man is expected in court Thursday.
