Police investigating Dartmouth bank robbery

A bank robbery on Portland Street in Dartmouth Wednesday afternoon has police searching for a suspect.

No one was injured during robbery at CIBC branch on Portland Street

A bank robbery on Portland Street in Dartmouth Wednesday afternoon has police searching for a suspect.

The robbery happened at the CIBC branch located at 56 Portland St. around 3:15 p.m.

A man entered the bank, threatened the staff and demanded cash. Police said as the suspect was leaving the branch, he got into an altercation with someone in the bank.

No one was injured in the incident and the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

He is described as a white man, five feet eight inches tall with a medium build, light brown hair and a scruffy beard. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a blue plaid lumberjack-style jacket and was carrying a green backpack.

The man was seen fleeing the area heading south on King Street in an older model Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Police are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to get into contact with them.
