Police find $50K and cocaine in Cape Breton search

Robert Wallace Hurley and Kimberly Anne Young were arrested in a Scotchtown home early Tuesday morning.

Cape Breton Regional Police say a man and a woman are in custody after being charged with several drug and firearms charges.

Robert Wallace Hurley and Kimberly Anne Young were arrested in a Scotchtown home early Tuesday morning.

The police used a search warrant to raid the house on Emerald Street. Inside, the said they found more than $50,000 in cash, a loaded handgun and a significant amount of cocaine. Police said there was also hashish and hash oil in the house.

Hurley, 66, and Young, 51, will appear in court Wednesday to face the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, hashish and hash oil
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it's unauthorized
  • Careless use of a firearm
