Halifax Regional Police say a man carrying a handgun and cocaine led officers on a long foot chase in Dartmouth.

Police said officers on foot patrol Tuesday night spotted a man they believed was violating court conditions. When he saw them, he ran the other way.

The officers chased the man through business and residential yards on Faulkner Street and Wyse Road. When they finally caught him, they found a handgun, ammunition and some cocaine, police said.

No one was hurt in the chase and subsequent arrest.

A 39-year-old Dartmouth man is due in court on Wednesday to face a number of charges.
