Police asking public for help in Cowie Hill assault

Halifax Regional Police is investigating an assault that took place Tuesday morning in Halifax.

Police responded to a report of an assault at the corner of Mont and Hillary Streets, near Cowie Hill, at 6:22 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located a 46-year-old man who had been assaulted by a man with a bat.

The victim was taken to hospital with significant injuries that are not believed to life threatening.

The suspect is described as a white man with a skinny build, possibly bald or with very short hair. He left the area in a newer model dark blue Mitsubishi car.

Investigators are waiting to interview the victim but say they don't believe the incident is random.
