Pedestrian killed on Highway 111

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car early Sunday morning as he attempted to cross Highway 111 in Dartmouth, police say.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car early Sunday morning as he attempted to cross Highway 111 in Dartmouth, police say.

Halifax Regional Police were called at 3 a.m. to a motor vehicle accident near the Burnside Drive exit of Highway 111, Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders said in a news release.

The pedestrian was in the middle of the highway when the car struck him, she said. The man was dead at the scene.  

Halifax Regional Police Accident Investigation and the Forensic Identification Section are investigating the accident.

The victim's name has not been released.
