Tenants of a Halifax apartment building were forced to evacuate after a living room fire Tuesday morning.

Everyone living at 390 Parkland Drive was ordered out between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

Chelsea Webber who lives on the first floor says she woke up to the fire alarm. She says the fire was so small at first she didn't believe anything was burning. Then she saw the smoke.

Deputy Fire Chief Roy Hollett, with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, says the fire was contained to the living room area of one of the apartments.

Crews quickly extinguished the flames.

There's no word, yet, on what caused the fire.
