Notorious Nova Scotia puppy broker granted bail
An infamous Nova Scotia dog seller now accused of assaulting her stepson has been granted bail.
Gail Benoit was arrested over the weekend. She faces an assault charge and failing to comply with bail conditions.
One of Benoit's daughters signed her bail guarantee.
She was ordered not to contact or be around her other daughter.
She's also charged with fraud, theft under $5,000 and identity fraud in a case involving two white boxers she was supposed to be looking after for a New Brunswick woman.
Benoit is prohibited from buying, selling or giving away any animal.
In January 2009, she was found guilty of two counts of animal cruelty for selling sick and malnourished dogs.
