Northwood workers accept deal
Northwood Care workers have accepted a contract deal, averting a strike at Nova Scotia's largest nursing home.
The members of the Canadian Autoworkers Union voted 67 per cent in favour of the agreement.
The 550 workers wanted better benefits and wage parity with their counterparts in hospitals.
The licenced practical nurses, maintentance workers and other staff were poised to strike.
The two sides resumed negotiations last week. Representatives for the union and management reached a tentative contract on March 16.
