Northside General Hospital ER delays maintenance shutdown until Mar. 13
Northside General Hospital ER open this weekend after plans cancelled to shut down for mainteance
The Northside General Hospital emergency department has postponed a temporary shutdown to replace its back-up emergency generator until next Sunday, Mar. 13.
The emergency department will be functioning normally Sunday, Mar. 6.
A winter storm on Saturday caused the hospital to delay the planned maintenance work, a spokesperson said.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority says visiting at the hospital Mar. 13 will be limited to immediate family or next of kin. The department will reopen Mar. 14 at 8 a.m.
Inpatient services will not be impacted, but the hospital elevators will be down and the NSHA says there may be brief interruptions to the phone systems.
The NSHA says area residents who need emergency services during that time should call 911 or visit the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.
