No charges in nursing home death

Halifax police say no charges will be laid in the death of a 92-year-old woman at a nursing home.

Halifax police say no charges will be laid in the death of a 92-year-old woman at a nursing home.

The woman was involved in an altercation with another resident at the Arborstone Enhanced Care Nursing Home on Jan. 7. The two elderly women were in the home's dementia unit.

The medical examiner determined that the injuries the woman suffered contributed to her death. Police subsequently launched a homicide investigation.

Halifax Regional Police said Friday that that investigation was complete.

The decision not to lay charges was made in consultation with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service, police said in a release.
