New Truro hospital damaged by equipment malfunction

The Colchester East Hants Health Authority said the ventilation system malfunctioned, causing water to leak into the operating suites at the Health Centre.

A problem at the new hospital in Truro has damaged some of the operating rooms.

The Colchester East Hants Health Authority said the ventilation system malfunctioned, causing water to leak into the operating suites at the Health Centre.

The problem was first discovered Sunday afternoon. Ten surgeries had to be cancelled and one emergency patient had to be sent to another hospital.

The Health Authority described the damage as minimal. No equipment was damaged.

Two of the operating rooms have since been reopened. It's unclear when the remaining rooms will be fixed, or if more surgeries will be affected.

The $184 million facility opened in November.
