Man suffers head injury in Dartmouth swarming
Halifax Regional Police said a man is in the QEII Health Science Centre with a head injury after being assaulted by six or seven men.
Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs said officers on patrol found the victim on the ground around one o'clock Sunday morning near 66 Highfield Park Drive.
McCoombs said several witnesses came forward and told the officers about the assault. He said they don't know if the victim knew his attackers.
"We can't say at this time," McCoombs said. "From the witnesses, when they saw the incident the assault had already begun, we don't know about the events that lead up to the assault at this time."
He said the group of men took several items from the 45-year-old victim and took off.
The man's injuries are serious, but not life-threatening.
"He had trauma throughout his body," said McCoombs. "He's going to be in hospital for several days."
McCoombs said the descriptions of the suspects are vague: six or seven men wearing dark clothing.
McCoombs said they will continue to take statements from witnesses Sunday, and plan to interview the victim when he is feeling up to it.
