Police say a 22-year-old man suffered a chest wound after a drive-by shooting Saturday night in the Halifax area.

A 22-year-old man suffered a chest wound after a drive-by shooting Saturday night in the Halifax area.

Sgt. Gordon Graham of Halifax Regional Police said officers found the victim sitting in the backseat of a car after he was shot at about 10 p.m.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth II hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening.

"The victim was able to tell police he was shot once by someone driving a white van on the 111 highway in Dartmouth," said Graham.

He was not able to provide further details and no arrests have been made.

The police's integrated general investigation section would follow up on the case, said Graham.
