Man shot in North Preston: RCMP

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in North Preston early Monday, RCMP say.

A shooting in North Preston early Monday has left a man with serious injuries, RCMP say.

Halifax District RCMP said there were reports of a shooting on Simmonds Road at about 3 a.m.

Shortly afterward, officers stopped a vehicle on Dartmouth's Main Street, near Guysborough Avenue, and found a man suffering from two gunshot wounds.

The man was rushed to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, prompting the hospital to beef up security in the emergency department.

A hospital spokeswoman said the lockdown was lifted just after 6 a.m.

Police were outside a home in North PrestonMonday morning as the investigation continued.
